The Mental Math Shortcut
A very handy trick: miles × 8 ÷ 5 = kilometers. Since 1.6 is close to 8/5, this gives you a near-exact answer.
Example: 10 miles → 10 × 8 = 80, then 80 ÷ 5 = 16 km. Exact answer: 16.09 km.
